A Little More Color Added to the Flag

In 78 days we will have the chance to make history and clean out the swamp that resides in the White House. There is no denying that we are living in unprecedented times.

A time where we are in the midst of fighting for our democracy, or as former Vice President Joe Biden would put it, “...fighting for the soul of our nation.” We are literally in the fight of our lives.

There should be no room left for doubt about whether or not you should vote; the choice comes down to a racist misogynist criminal- who doesn't respect the law or the institutions that hold this country together- or a team-Biden/Harris- that can restore the principles of our democracy. History has shown us that strong venerated black women leaders have not always received the recognition that they deserved in their fight for equality for all, but they never stopped their behind the scenes crusade toward justice.

Past women leaders and activists like Ida B. Wells, Dorothy Height, Representative Shirley Chisholm, and Senator Carol Moseley Braun has laid the foundation for women like Aiyana Presley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Talib, Ilhan Omar- who all currently serve in our United States Congress- and Senator-soon to be Vice President- Kamala Harris. Because of the sacrifice from those who came before us, we now stand as witnesses to a dream that was once deferred.

Now every little black and brown girl can believe in the possibility that she can become President of the United States, that she can become a Senator or a Congresswoman. Senator Kamala Harris is a beacon on the hill and is an embodiment of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice. Not only is it “Yes We Can,” but now it is, “Yes We Will!” The dream dies if we do not vote.

GET OUT AND VOTE! #WeAreGenZ
